10 Free Platforms to Kickstart Your Web Development Journey

There are so many platforms out there today where you can start learning coding for free and some even issue certifications.

If you don’t have the money to pay for a training yet, you don’t have to wait.

You can start practicing with these free resources now, and when you’re ready, you can always invest in a more advanced program later.

Here are 10 great platforms to get you started:

  1. freeCodeCamp: https://lnkd.in/dmhFjNHY
One of the best places to start. You’ll find thousands of lessons on HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, databases, and more. They even give out free certifications as you complete projects.

  2. W3Schools: https://www.w3schools.com/
Beginner-friendly and easy to follow. You can learn almost every web technology here plus; their online editor lets you practice in real time.

  3. The Odin Project: https://lnkd.in/dTH82wEz
A complete curriculum for full-stack development. It feels like a bootcamp but it’s 100% free, with lots of hands-on projects.

  4. MDN Web Docs: https://lnkd.in/dFwwWxbr
Run by Mozilla, this is like the “encyclopedia of the web.” It’s not only for beginners, but you’ll also keep coming back to it as you grow.

  5. Sololearn: https://www.sololearn.com/

  7. CS50’s Introduction to Computer Science: https://lnkd.in/dhsXcRMY
Harvard’s famous CS course, free on edX. It’s challenging but will give you a solid programming foundation, including web programming.

  8. Khan Academy – Computer Programming: https://lnkd.in/dkdWZBRy
Super friendly and visual. Their interactive lessons make coding fun, especially if you’re just starting out.

  9. Codewars: https://www.codewars.com/
A gamified way to learn. You solve coding challenges and “level up” as you go. Great for practice and improving your problem-solving skills.

  10. Coursera Free Courses: https://www.coursera.org/
Universities around the world share free courses here. You can audit them for free (and only pay if you want a certificate).
