Welcome! We have some similar hobbies! How long have you been practicing muay Thai?I used to practice Pencak silat, and I also love indoor rowing (do it almost every day) and hiking (as much as I can where I live am in the beautiful PNW in the US). I'm intrigued my your mission to write for older people who are intimidated by programming; how did you find that path?
Hey!
I did mt for 5yrs ish (?). My gym closed down at the start of the pandemic and I haven't found a gym since. That's when I switched to indoor rowing and hiking. I miss MT dearly! Pencak silat looks cool!
I've joined 100Devs and the lead instructor is all about inclusion. I know there are other folks like me out there (non tech work exp, second career / industry switch) so I'd like to encourage them to keep going. I'm experimenting on content type (short form, long form, infographics) and outreach methods.
I am following codenewbie on twitter. See you there and thanks for the support!
Wow! I'm going to check out 100Devs. I can definitely relate to your experience as someone who made a mid-career switch into tech. It can be intimidating, but it's also been incredibly rewarding for me to learn new skills and challenge myself.
I'm one of the community team members working behind the scenes on DEV, so I'm always out and about in the comments, listening to what our members have to say and learning about their experiences. I'm eager to keep tabs on your experimentation with different types of content and outreach methods. Do keep us all posted on DEV and reach out to the community to let us know where we can support!
