Ah, Manjaro. As my first Linux distro, it still holds a place in my heart, and I had the same problem with the AUR at first. Then I watched a 4 minute video on it after realizing I had no idea what I was doing because I was too lazy to RTFM.
Honestly, it was a pretty smooth experience after that, though I went on to learn a lot more (and actually get into the habit of reading up on any and everything I wasn't familiar with instead of just searching for a guide). I still dual-boot windows and my chosen Linux distro of the time b/c of application compatibility, but many distros are pretty straightforward nowadays, at least from what I can tell.
