I'm a friendly, non-dev, cisgender guy from NC who enjoys playing music/making noise, hiking, eating veggies, and hanging out with my best friend/wife + our 3 kitties + 1 greyhound.
Oooo heck yeah! I fell into a very similar musical space over COVID. I love the synthwave/chillwave genres and the bands that you mention are on point! However, I had never heard Space Cassette — I love this!
If you want something a bit more poppy with singing, I recommend checking out The Midnight... their album Monsters really had its hooks in me a couple years ago and I still frequently pop it on.
I also love Irving Force... it's quite a bit darker, heavier, but still very synthy. Street Mech is a good tune to show ya what it's all about.
But yeah, listening to all this synthwave sorta stuff actually resulted in me buying a modular synthesizer called a Moog Grandmother and other bits of equipment like a drum machine... it's a lotta fun making that sorta music.
