Master of Data Science... but I'm a graphic designer

First post! Took me forever to muster the courage to post anything.

So, out of the blue, I've been accepted to study Master of Data Science in Uni! My educational and professional background is in Graphic Design (what?), and I thought (on a whim) that I could apply to the degree and see what happened.

It's not that I don't like design, I love it! I've just always felt that I had a place in the Tech world too. I started off designing websites, then moved onto actually developing them the way I want. I recently started playing with PHP and built my first client portal using the Google Analytics API. "Talking" to computers is such a thrill for me and I want to keep doing it.

I'm super excited to embark on this journey, but I'm also shaking in me boots because it's all so extremely new for me. I'd love to grab any and all tips that can help me in this completely new experience for me, or hear some stories of people who have made choices similar to mine.

I graduated with HBsc in Biochemistry and Neuroscience, worked as lab rat for a year then started working as a Sushi Chef. Got tired of it, joined Canada Post to work as a 📦 agent, got tired of that, decided to become a Software Developer. Did 4 years Software Engineering co-op program, then got a full time job as a Software Engineer. Meanwhile, I decided to study Masters in Information Systems. Finished few data science courses in my Masters, realized that many people who are studying data science have no idea what they are talking about. So I stopped my Masters program and now I am focusing on perfecting my algorithm and optimizing design. Data Science has lots of hypes. People make it sound like it's a new thing, but in fact, it has been around for a long time. Only difference now is that Geoffrey Hilton approached it differently, using his Neuroscience background, but even himself thinks current generation of AI is not going to work. People think simply by taking few courses will make them a data scientist and be able to create a new algorithm from scratch. Most Data Scientists at work only know how to consume API. They heavily rely on API created by other smart engineers who have robust mathematical foundation and computer science background. Most of data scientists are just analysts. People who actually do something got PhD and they have focused on the field for the past 10 years, at least. Unless you are going all-in to data science, I do not think it's a great field. You will understand what I am saying if you actually land a job. It's completely different from what you expect.

You can try dbdesigner.id to create Entity Relationship Diagram 😎😎😎.
This can help you to collaborate with your team on web and cut off your step in generate SQL Create database.
I write this article to explain more about this devtool dev.to/didin1453fatih/database-des...
