I think it is not about love or hate, it is about what you need to use to make an app so you get paid! Simple as that. And in that context, NO ONE can deny that PHP can SURELY make you some good money, whether you do freelance or you seek small/medium/corporate work.
I want to learn Python as well, but PHP will always be my first love :D
