There are quite a lot of investor backed oss companies: MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Sentry, appwrite, supabase and many others. You can monetize OSS software by providing a hosted version of it (this is the approach we are taking). Other ways would be to provide paid support, open-core model, and etc... Hope this helps :)
