GitHub desktop is great but using VS Code is quite handy and gives many functionalities, I am sure you must give a try. ✌🏻
I have tried both GitHub Desktop and VSCode but I found GitHub Desktop more convenient as you can manage, change or see previous commits and many more; At the end its personal choice for every developer 🙂
You can use these features there too, but yes as you said at the end it matters is the ease of use, and it's ones Personal opinion. Happy Coding ✌🏻
