On Windows I use conda. It always "just works" for me.
I never can remember any of the commands though so each time I want to update I have to google it.
conda update conda
That is a really long command if your environment is junk like mine... seriously like 15 minutes to do the update. I have learned my lesson.
Note to self. Never update conda. Probably would have been faster to just uninstall and download the newest version. :)
