Best Fortnite Graphics Settings for High FPS in 2026

Fortnite's graphics settings have changed substantially over the years. Unreal Engine 5 features like Lumen and Nanite are now in the game, and knowing what to enable and what to skip determines whether you are at 300 FPS or 60.

Display Settings

Window Mode — Fullscreen Exclusive. Consistently lower input lag than Windowed Fullscreen in Fortnite.

Resolution — Native is recommended for accuracy. Some competitive players drop to 1280x960 or 1920x1080 from higher native resolutions to recover frames.

Frame Rate Limit — Set to slightly above your monitor's refresh rate (e.g., 145 for a 144Hz display). Uncapped is fine but wastes GPU resources.

VSync — Off.

Motion Blur — Off.

Graphics Quality

For competitive play, set everything to Low or Medium and adjust up selectively:

Textures — Medium. Low makes the game look noticeably worse without a significant FPS gain.

Shadows — Off. The single largest FPS saving in Fortnite. Competitive players almost universally disable this.

Anti-Aliasing & Super Resolution — TSR (Temporal Super Resolution) on Performance mode is the best balance. Epic TSR looks better but costs frames. DLSS is available for Nvidia users and is slightly sharper than TSR at equivalent settings.

View Distance — Epic or Far. This affects how early structures load in — important for gameplay. Low view distance means builds appear suddenly at close range.

Ambient Occlusion — Off.

Lumen Global Illumination — Off for competitive. Visually impressive, significant performance cost.

Lumen Reflections — Off.

Nanite Virtualized Geometry — This can be left On — Nanite actually improves performance in Fortnite compared to the old LOD system in most scenes.

World Motion Blur — Off.

What Actually Matters for Competitive Play

  1. Shadows off — biggest single FPS gain, no gameplay downside
  2. Lumen off — large FPS recovery
  3. Fullscreen Exclusive — lower input lag

Everything else is incremental.

Color and Visibility

Fortnite's environment has a lot of color. Some players boost Digital Vibrance in Nvidia Control Panel (65–70%) to make opponents stand out more clearly. AMD users have the equivalent Saturation slider in Radeon Software.
