For me, the main things that made VS Code worth the switch were:

  • It's fast (especially when compared to other Electron-based editors like Atom)
  • It's easy to extend/theme (and has a pretty large plugin ecosystem)
  • It's well supported, with monthly updates

For what it's worth, VS Code is an Electron-based editor.

Yeah, perhaps I didn't phrase my comment quite right - I was trying to say that, of the editors that are based on Electron, VS Code seems to be the fastest. Atom has improved a lot too, though.

I'm currently using sublime so I don't face speed problems and even the default theme is cool, but anyway I'm going to to give VS Code a try, thanks Joe for commenting
