Okay, so you know how some people have been in your life so long that you can literally hear their voice when you read something they wrote? Yeah. That’s how I felt reading Tanya’s latest post.
She finally said it — all the cringey, copy-paste designer bios on LinkedIn? Fucking over it.
Let me backtrack for a sec.
Tanya and I go way back. We’ve weathered pitch decks, shitty clients, great wine, and existential design debates at 2 a.m. (Yes, she’s that kind of designer.)
And the thing I’ve always loved about her? She actually gives a shit. She doesn’t just slap a fancy UI on some SaaS dashboard and call it innovation.
- She thinks.
- She listens.
- She solves.
And yeah, she can design the hell out of a product.
So imagine my delight when I see her on Peerlist, just casually dismantling the entire genre of "Award-Winning Passionate Designer™" speak in her own hilarious, no-bullshit voice. Finally. Finally someone said:
“You wouldn’t put lorem ipsum in your UI/UX Design Services, so why are you filling your profile with it?”
I laughed. I cried. I sent it to half my team.
Because here’s the thing — we’ve all been there.
Whether you're hiring, job hunting, or just stalking other marketers at 11 p.m. (no judgment), you’ve seen these LinkedIn profiles.
The ones that sound like they were written by a committee of HR bots. “Cross-functional. Results-oriented. Strong communication skills.” Like, babes, are you a person or a corporate resume Mad Lib?
And look — I get it. We’ve all done it. We think we’re playing it safe. We think professionalism = personality amputation. But Tanya? She just went full send. She rewrote her profile like she was writing to one person: the kind of founder or PM who’s overwhelmed, overbooked, and just wants to know if this designer “gets it.”
Spoiler: she gets it.
Let’s talk about some of my favorite lines:
- “I design the part of your product people complain about.”
- “You know that screen no one wants to touch? That’s my happy place.”
- “I design calm — even when your sprint board screams.”
WHO TALKS LIKE THIS ON LINKEDIN?
Tanya does. Because she’s not afraid to sound human. (Also, let’s be honest — she’s funnier than 90% of the people writing thought-leader threads.)
And the best part? It’s not just “quirky for the sake of it.” It’s strategic. It filters out the clients who want safe and boring, and magnetizes the ones who want real, sharp, embedded product design support. (DNSK WORK is what the cool kids call her studio btw.)
From a marketing perspective? This is gold. This is how you build brand voice. This is how you signal alignment before the first meeting. This is how you turn “just another designer” into someone unforgettable.
So yeah, if you’re a designer reading this and still clinging to your list of wireframing tools like it’s a personality trait — maybe it’s time to Tanya-fy your profile. Or at least ask yourself: would your best friend repost your bio with hearts and fire emojis? If not, rewrite it.
And if you’re a founder thinking, “Damn, I’d love to work with someone who just gets it”? Let me save you a scroll:

You're welcome.
Tanya, if you’re reading this: proud of you, always. Let’s get drinks and bully some more LinkedIn buzzwords.
xoxo
