Great post, Arik. I'm from the same era and background as you are, and I fully agree with you that not all community platforms out there are equally beneficial to its users.

But as you are pointing out in your article, this particular community hub seems to me, to be at first glance, one that is bringing a new breed of communicating platform, featuring the least possible distracting artifacts on its interface. I love it!

I believe that this type of idea sharing and discussion hub with no fluffs will tend to be more engaging and more fruitful to its members while being more focused on programming topics, programming skill improvement tips, and camaraderie.
Therefore, aiming at becoming less time consuming to the users, straight to the point, all while being more effective and more engaging than many other types of community hubs out there.

Lastly, thank you so much, Arik for sharing your thoughts and experience with the newbies who have just poped-in, like me. I look forward to discovering, even more, user benefits and rewarding treats from this new (to me) type of highly specialized topic community gathering and sharing model.

Keep it up, you just got a new fan! :)

WOW. Thank you so much for this warm comment. It's precisely people like you that this community hopes to attract. And yes, w definitely pride ourselves in being a welcoming community to anyone regardless of their level of experience and educational background.

Personally, I find helping newcomers make their first steps into the subject extremely rewarding. And since people in this community come from such diverse backgrounds, it never ceases to amaze me how technology can be harnessed to do wonderful things.

So let me be the first to congratulate you on joining our ranks. It is great to have you on board.
