Building a Personal Finance Tool for Everyone - Need Your Input

The Problem

I've tried multiple personal finance apps and they all have some issues:

  • Expensive: $100+/year for essential features
  • Paywalls: Core functionality hidden behind upgrades
  • Poor UX: Clunky interfaces, dated design
  • Limited features: Missing key functionality or forcing compromises

What I'm Building (Nothing to sell)

A personal finance tool that targets a specific group of people and has all the features tailored for them.

What I Need From You

Before building features nobody wants, I need to validate what actually matters.

3-minute survey: https://tally.so/r/rjaWVl

Key questions:

  • What frustrates you most about finance tracking?
  • Why do people abandon finance apps?
  • What features are must-haves vs. nice-to-haves?
  • What would make you stick with a tool long-term?

Full Transparency

  • Nothing to sell
  • Personal project I'm building for myself (and people that want to try it out).
  • Your feedback shapes what gets built: Honest "this won't work" feedback > polite encouragement
  • Just want to build something genuinely useful

Especially Valuable If You:

  • Have tried and abandoned finance apps
  • Currently struggle with tracking finances
  • Have strong opinions on YNAB/Mint/Monarch/etc.
  • Work in fintech or have built finance tools
  • Manage money across multiple countries/currencies
