I love Atom. Before Atom I was 100% Vim/NeoVim. I was able to switch to Atom because it has the BEST Vim emulation (via plugins) compared to all other editors BY FAR, and trust me, I've tried them all.
In Atom I can do just about everything I can do in Vim or NeoVim, plus have the benefits of the UI and ecosystem of plugins (f.e. TypeScript support is great).
In every other editor (including VS Code), I always hit some limitations with the Vim emulation that makes it just unbearable for me.
