Do you prefer Light mode or Dark mode?

In 2020, it almost feels like if there is not Light mode / Dark mode toggle somewhere in your product, it doesn't count.

Jokes aside, I like to browse web in Light mode cause it feels way more natural and code on Dark mode cause of greater contrast and I find it easier for eyes for longer periods of time.

What are your theme preferences when it comes to browsing and coding?

"Dark Mode vs. Light Mode: Which Is Better?
Summary: In people with normal vision (or corrected-to-normal vision), visual performance tends to be better with light mode, whereas some people with cataract and related disorders may perform better with dark mode. On the flip side, long-term reading in light mode may be associated with myopia."

Late to the discussion but anyway. I use light mode everywhere. I am visually impaired and find the black text on white much better for reading, even more so if the font is small. I also always end up using really big font sizes in my code editor and my browser is set to a default zoom of 110%.
It is great to include dark more for those who prefer it but I have started coming across sites now that only have dark mode and I end up fiddling with the CSS to make things readable.

Using dark mode for aesthetics and because it feels easier on the eye. πŸ˜…Especially on desktop, since I have a pretty big monitor, and when all of it is white I can feel my eyes burning lol.
I often switch to the Spotify window cause even if I'm not looking at the monitor, it causes me headaches sometimes.

Dark mode, no doubt. I usually work late at night and it's horrible to read posts in the light mode.

Embrace the darkness 🌚

I used to be on the light side, but a few years ago I started to enjoying the dark side... but not everywhere. I mostly used it for IDE, Slack, etc. - apps I spend a lot of time with.

Honestly, I also always consider the "quality". Some apps and webs look horrible in the dark version.

Having some apps in the dark mode and some in the light one helps me to quickly distinguish between them too.

When I work at the office, I use the light mode.

When I go home, I use the dark mode.

I prefer light mode. I also try not to set my monitor brightness "too high", or it makes my eyes tired over the course of the day.

I definitely prefer dark mode but sometimes it's added as an afterthought and the contrast is not good enough and some icons and graphics can look pretty bad (I'm looking at you Notion)

Until all applications support dark mode it is light mode my option. Switching from light to dark mode between applications is more harmful than staring at light mode.
