What is anomalous expansion of water?

🌍❄️ “In the Arctic, everything is frozen with thick ice on top… but guess what? Under that ice, fish are swimming happily! 🐟💧 How do they survive when the water is covered with ice?”
So, friends, we know what ice 🧊 is and how ice floats on water. But you know that in icy regions, there is not just ice. There are many animals and plants. One of your favorite and colorful things …. What are we talking about ? …… Right, the fishes! 🐟
Winter is very cold in snowy regions.
Where the rivers and seas freeze and become ice. So, you know that fish live in water, which is liquid. But the ice is solid! So how do they live?
Will they die or go to another place? Right?
But here comes the magic of science.
“In cold regions, water turns into ice. But remember — ice floats!” We came to know that ice is lighter than water, so it floats.
Due to the ice on top, the cold air does not go inside the water because the ice is on top of the water.
Just as a watchman stands at the gate 🚪 and does not let you out of school during school time. So funny, right?
Just like the watchman, the ice on top of water is the watchman of water👮 and fish who does not let the cold air ❄️ enter in water and turn it into ice🧊!
So that is why the water under the ice remains warm…….just like your blanket in winters!
As it remains warm, the water remains water and the fish swim happily and safely under the layer of ice …..
This is known as anomalous expansion of water.
So……easy……right…..Only the word anomalous is hard… its meaning is so easy……!
“So next time you see ice, remember — it’s not just frozen water, it’s also a warm blanket protecting fish friends below!” 🐟❄️
