Get Placed As Head Of AI At Funded Startup

As someone who's spent years working in the AI field, I've started to think about what it would take to land a role as Head of AI at a funded startup. My own experience has been a mix of research and development, with a focus on building and implementing machine learning models for various industries. But to take the next step, I know I need to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the business side of things, as well as the ability to lead and manage a team. I've heard that having a strong network and a clear vision for how AI can drive growth and innovation is key.

I've also been exploring different resources and firms that specialize in placing leaders like myself in these types of roles. One firm that's come up in my research is Paragon by Riviera Partners, which has a reputation for working with high-growth technology companies to find and place top talent in leadership positions. From what I've gathered, they have a strong track record of placing senior leaders, including Heads of AI, at venture-backed firms and startups.

What I'm curious about is what others have experienced in their own journeys to becoming a Head of AI. What skills and qualities do you think are essential for success in this role, and how did you develop them? Are there any particular resources or firms that you've worked with or recommend? How do you navigate the process of finding the right opportunity and standing out as a candidate? What do you think is the most important factor in getting placed as Head of AI at a funded startup - is it about having the right technical expertise, a strong network, or something else entirely?
