Kūlia I Ka Nuʻu

Aloha, some of you may be wondering what is the meaning of the title but maybe more so of how do you even pronounce it. Feel free to ask me how to pronounce it. Please, if you googled it, great, keep that mentality and thinking but do not forget about you instructors for your cohort and your cohort members.

I do live by this saying, not just because of who said it but because of what it means. The fun part of this saying for me personally is I do not see a "summit" to this journey and to me that is how coding is, there is so much to learn and do.

Coding, is something I have always been interested in. The thing that I find the most interesting is that coding can be a never ending journey, I say can be because it is up to you to stop at where ever you please. As of now I am only starting my journey of Coding. I just started my boot camp three weeks ago, it has been a wild one so far but every step of it has been worth it. Striving for the summit is what I do in anything that I choose to do. The fun part for me is that I do not see a "complete" end to my journey, to that summit, I am enjoying every step. Yes, that includes boot camp even though it is very uncomfortable at times and it seems like everything is going by like the fast and the furious and it is OKAY if you feel like the slow and delirious like myself some days. You will have those days a lot more than you think you will have it. Remember, everyone learns at their own speed yet at the same time don't forget that you are in a boot camp and that you chose to be there.

On this journey you will make new friends and learn so much - do not be afraid to make connections, you never know who you will meet on this journey. Who knows who you will meet and what will happen you may meet the next genius who goes on to create the next biggest mobile or web app or become part of a team that does wonders for the coding community. Get into study groups out side of class hours, talk to someone when you folks have some down time, if you are taking the course online start a conversation with someone while waiting in the lobby.

Coding boot camps will be fast and you will do a lot of things in such little time, being uncomfortable is something you will have to get use to.
What ever you reason for learning to code, stick to it. Some do it for the money, lifestyle that you can create, whatever your personal reason is keep to it. It may be a stepping stone for now. Keep that in mind when you get into boot camp, you will find others in your cohort that may have a similar journey to yours. As for me, I am personally doing this for a certain lifestyle, I want to be able to have control of my time and money because money is something we can always make more of, time is not. Seriously, keep your why in sight, whether that may be a picture of someone or a group of people you love and admire or if it is a written goal such as a certain dollar amount.

I know this blog may be all over the place. Really, I am writing this blog with hardly any sleep.
My hope for you with this article is that you will be kind to yourself and realize that you are not alone with feeling lost, afraid, impatient, nervous. I will more than likely look back at this blog a few months from now and more than likely laugh and have one of those "what was I thinking" moments, but this is growth. Just keep going!
When you have completed your course, look back at it and take note of how you were in certain situations, who and what made you better, be thankful for all of those moments because they have got you to where you are now it does not matter if it is good or bad some things are meant to happen a certain way for you to become the coding professional you're meant to be.
