I don't think it's too late. A few years ago, a friend of mine started a programming bootcamp. He had zero university degrees to his name (side note: I don't have any either) and he was in his mid-30s. Prior to that he was a salesman for I don't know how many years. Long story short, I was working for a company at the time as a programmer and convinced my boss to give him a chance. And he did. Now, that same friend is a CTO in some fancy startup-company somewhere and doing really well. So yes, never too late. Your story will probably take different turns, but the point is, if you're really gung-ho you'll get what you want.
