Not able to connect to PostgreSQL server on Fedora

For those are experienced specifically in Fedora. I'm having trouble connecting to my postgresql database in Linux Fedora.

I need to connect to my database, so that I can run python manage.py migrate and python manage.py runserver to get my Django backend running again.

I tried stack overflow, reddit and used Fedora postgresql docs. I even tried re-configuring my pg_hba.conf as per a related question on SO. But I still get the same error here:

django.db.utils.OperationalError: connection to server at "localhost" (::1), port 5432 failed: FATAL: Ident authentication failed for user "postgres"```

Please I need help with this.
