I tried exactly what you say: I started with a single remote day as a test (this is before Covid), and well, it was a disaster, which made me change my mind about remote work.
After Covid, when we were forced to work remotely (and we still are..) things changed. The productivity of our whole team was pretty high.
But, remote work only made sense about a year later...
So my advice is to not try it for one single day, not a week. Just make plans, visualize what you are gonna do to be productive/efficient and don't overwork. I might write my own article about it when I summarize my results.
