How We Built It
Building a realistic try-on system means teaching AI to understand both humans and clothing.
Here’s the short version of how Tryona works behind the scenes:
Understanding the Human
We start by analyzing the user’s pose and body shape using pose estimation models.
Detecting key body points (shoulders, elbows, hips) helps the AI understand how a person stands and how clothes should naturally drape.
Working With the Garment
Next, we take a flat garment photo and the same garment worn on a model.
This teaches the system how fabric behaves — how a T-shirt stretches, how a dress folds, etc.
Early Experiments: Simple Warping GANs
We first tried 2D warping GANs — fast but not perfect. :(
They often produced distorted or “melted” results — especially around arms or folds.
The Big Leap: Diffusion Models
Then came the modern diffusion models — the same breakthrough technology behind pioneers like Stable Diffusion.
Suddenly, virtual try-ons felt alive: lighting matched the mood, textures looked touchable, and body alignment felt natural. The only catch? These models demanded serious computing power to make the magic happen.
Integrating With Fashion Stores
Finally, we built a simple API integration for online stores.
Now, any fashion site can let users “Try On” clothes virtually — directly on product pages.
