There’s a narrative spreading across engineering communities:

“AI is ruining technical interviews.”
“Candidates are cheating with LLMs.”
“Companies need stricter monitoring.”

This framing is incomplete.

The real issue isn’t AI usage.

The real issue is that technical interviews were designed for a pre-AI engineering stack — and the stack has changed.

From a systems perspective, what we’re witnessing is not moral failure. It’s architectural drift.

1. The Engineering Stack Has Changed

In 2015, implementation fluency was scarce.

You were evaluated on:

  • Syntax recall
  • Algorithm pattern memory
