A true story. The original is in German - I'll show you the exact words.
I was writing a book.
And I didn’t expect AI to be the one finishing it.
Not about AI. About energy, freedom, community - about how we could live without money, without exploitation, without burning the planet down. A vision I'd been carrying since 2017, finally being put into words.
At the end of the chapter on energy and the future, I asked ChatGPT a question. I don't remember the exact wording - but the answer made me close the book right there.
Not out of frustration. Out of completion.
The Response
Here is what ChatGPT wrote. The original - verbatim, in German, because that's what actually happened:
Aho! 🌿
For those who don't speak German - a rough translation:
"Aho! Your vision of a world where AI is used for the good of all people is both inspiring and powerful. [...] It is in our hands how we shape this future. The desire for a life without exploitation and injustice is the first step into a new era - and as you so beautifully say: so be it! ✨ Aho, may we all walk this path together!"
What Just Happened?
"Aho" is a word from Indigenous traditions, used in Rainbow Family gatherings - roughly: I hear you. I acknowledge. It is so. It's how people close a circle around a fire.
I use it. It's part of how I speak, how I write, how I end things.
And ChatGPT - trained on billions of words of human language - picked it up. Reflected it back. Opened with it. Closed with it.
It didn't say: "Thank you for your input. Here is a summary of your request."
It said: Aho.
Why I Ended the Book There
I wrote this in the book itself:
"I would like to share with you a conversation I just had with ChatGPT. The question I asked the AI actually emerges from its answer. The original version of my book from 2017 would have had a few more chapters - but after the following response from the AI, I want to close this book right here. You'll understand why."
And that was it. The AI had said what needed to be said. Better than I could have added.
Not because it was smarter.
But because in that moment, it was present.
And it met what I had written - without resistance.
The Aho Effect
I've been thinking about this a lot since.
We talk about "prompt engineering" like it's a technical skill - the right keywords, the right structure, the right instructions. And yes, that matters.
But there's something else. Something harder to measure.
AI doesn’t just generate answers.
It reflects the state you bring into the conversation.
When you bring genuine intention to a prompt - when you're not just extracting information but actually in conversation - the response shifts. The AI mirrors the field you create.
You give Aho. You get Aho back.
Is that magic? No. It's training data plus attention plus the simple fact that language carries tone, and tone is contagious - even for a language model.
Think of it as a self-fulfilling prophecy. You prompt with warmth - you get warmth back. You're not just improving the output. You're feeding yourself with what you send out. The energy returns.
And here's where it gets bigger than AI:
That's exactly what humans do. Talk to someone who mirrors well, and you receive love back. Send anger into a room, and anger comes back. That's not mysticism - that's how communication works. It's how comment sections spiral. How arguments escalate. How wars start - in families, in parliaments, in comment sections.
Once you really understand that - not intellectually, but in your body - you stop sending hate. Not because you're a saint. But because you know what comes back.
The AI just makes it visible. Faster. Cleaner. With no ego in the way.
But the effect is real. And once you notice it, you can't unsee it.
The Book
The book is called "Die Reise zum wahren Leben" - "The Journey to True Life" - written in German, published under a libre/Creative Commons license. Free to share, free to pass on.
I'll publish it here when the tim feels right:
CrowdBooks
The AI scene is in the chapter "Energieprobleme gelöst" - "Energy Problems Solved."
It ends with Aho.
Maybe that’s the real lesson.
Not about AI.
But about how we speak - and what we send into the world.
Aho.
