What’s New in BoldSign: August 2025 Features & Enhancements

August 2025 introduced a new wave of updates to BoldSign aimed at enhancing compliance, flexibility, and productivity across your e-signature workflows. From legally binding qualified electronic signatures (QES) to improved mobile template management, these features were designed to help you work more efficiently, at your desk or on the move.

In this blog post, we’ll explore the latest additions and show how they can elevate your document signing experience.

Qualified electronic signatures (QES) for multiple signers

BoldSign now supports qualified electronic signatures (QES) for multiple signers, offering the highest level of legal validity under EU eIDAS regulations. This feature ensures your documents meet stringent compliance standards with enhanced security and identity verification.

When enabling QES for multiple signers, signing order must be enabled, and QES can be applied to either all signers or only the final signer, depending on your workflow requirements. This allows organizations to maintain legal compliance while adapting to complex, multiparty signing scenarios.

Edit custom permission details

Users can now modify existing custom permissions without deleting and recreating them, saving time and simplifying access management.

New capabilities

  • Update resources, permissions, teams, and users associated with existing custom permissions.
  • Adjust access controls to reflect changing team needs.
  • Maintain granular control over document and feature access.

In situations where roles or access requirements frequently change, such as during project expansions, this feature lets admins keep up.

Hyperlink email addresses and phone numbers

The hyperlink form field in BoldSign now supports email addresses and phone numbers in addition to standard URLs, enabling direct communication from within documents.

During document setup, senders can insert an email address or phone number into a hyperlink field. When signers click the link, their device automatically opens the default email client or phone dialer, so they can schedule calls or send confirmations.

This feature enhances the user experience and boosts efficiency for documents that require direct communication, such as client onboarding forms or service agreements.

Combine attachments with signed documents

BoldSign now gives senders control over how attached documents are delivered with signed documents. A new setting is on the Branding page that allows senders to choose whether attachments should be merged into a single PDF with the signed document or kept separate.

When the Combine Attachments option is enabled, attachments are combined with the signed document into one PDF file. This helps with archiving or consolidating legal filings. When the option is disabled, which is the default setting, attachments are downloaded separately.

Mobile App enhancements

The BoldSign mobile app also received some great enhancements to its template capabilities.

Create templates in the Mobile App

Users can now create reusable templates within the BoldSign mobile app, no longer needing desktop access.

When creating a template, users can upload a document, define signer roles, add fillable form fields (such as text boxes and signature areas), and save the configuration for future use. This is especially helpful for frequently used documents like NDAs, contracts, or onboarding forms.

Clone templates in the Mobile App

The mobile app now supports the cloning of existing templates, allowing users to duplicate a template and make adjustments instead of starting from scratch.

This feature is useful for professionals who work with similar documents for different clients, departments, or projects. They can retain the original structure and modify only the necessary elements to suit the new context.

How to clone a template:

1. Locate the desired template.
2. Tap the context menu (three dots) and select Clone template.

Edit templates in the Mobile App

Users can now edit templates in their mobile device. This includes updating the document file, modifying form fields, changing signer roles, and adjusting template settings.

Users can respond to updated requirements, correct errors, or refine workflows, all without needing access to a desktop environment.

Save draft templates in the Mobile App

The mobile app now allows users to save templates as drafts during the creation process. This enables users to pause their work and resume editing later, ensuring that progress is not lost due to interruptions.
