Cheater Genius in Action: Gamifying AI and Self-Awareness

Education Track: Build Apps with Google AI Studio

This post is my submission for DEV Education Track: Build Apps with Google AI Studio.

What I Built

I created two complementary prototypes exploring AI-driven user interaction:
1. Good Student (Nerd) – A reflective tool called Window-Shop Follow Habit Tracker that lets users track online browsing and social media follow habits, record emotions, and receive AI-guided suggestions. The AI encourages self-awareness while maintaining ethical data practices.
2. Bad Student (Genius) – An interactive gamified HTML prototype inspired by Letterhead Heist and chaotic AI experiments. Users remix digital and physical concepts, navigate playful AI suggestions, and explore the balance between fantasy and reality. Disclaimers remind users that AI can make mistakes.

Key AI Prompts / Features:
• AI-generated suggestions for habit tracking or narrative remix.
• Interactive buttons and dynamic feedback.
• Gamified scoring and branching narrative for the chaotic prototype.

My Experience

Building these prototypes taught me:
• How AI can support structured reflection and experimental exploration simultaneously.
• Critical thinking and human oversight are essential, even in playful AI applications.
• Gamification and disruption can turn routine or passive interactions into engaging, educational experiences.
• Surprising insight: chaos can be just as educational as structure when users are allowed to experiment.
