# Preface:

This is the 12th book I finished reading in 2023. I came across this book because Readmoo regularly has some interesting [LINE Official Account https://today.line.me/tw/v2/publisher/101934 [Readmoo Frontline"](https://today.line.me/tw/v2/publisher/101934) messages, which regularly select some interesting books to recommend. There are also many article excerpts, which I find very useful and I really like this type of short article. Everyone can also subscribe to take a look.

Did you know that you can't be a king if your name is Henry? Is the vampire Dracula not a fictional character?
Who are the top three most badass boy bands in medieval Europe? The strange historical knowledge you and I want to know is all here!

The first book by seayu, the operator of the "Instant History" website
History is not boring, it's just that no one is telling you the story!
Tonight, let's have some interesting and lively European history~

The author of this book is just like you and me, a 9-to-5 working-class person.
But after work, he is a popular history writer with tens of thousands of subscribers?!
Just because of a small idea, "Instant History" was born before the "Story" website...

Hu Chuan'an said: "Instant History's articles handle historical facts very carefully, but they can attract readers in an engaging way."
Sea Lion said: "I heard that all the articles on Instant History are written by one person, which makes me deeply feel his strong creative ability!"
PTT Mayan said: "seayu is a great chef of history, cooking historical materials and events into home-style dishes, which are not only delicious but also instant."
Chen Lihang said: "This combination of film works and historical facts is one of the characteristics of this book, and it is interesting to read."
cheap said: "Abandoning the obscure and difficult-to-understand European history terms, this book uses engaging historical stories to open up everyone's interest in European history."
Jiang Zhongyuan said: "I have to tell everyone frankly that even if you accidentally glance at his historical articles, you will be deeply attracted by the content full of knowledge!"
Damian said: "This book collects engaging stories, which not only explain historical concepts but also lead readers to travel through historical scenes, which is worth recommending!"

What is "Instant History"?
This term comes from Hong Kong Cantonese. The so-called "instant" means convenient, easy to understand, and not complicated. The author of this book hopes to use the power of words to let the general public understand the fun of reading history, so that those who do not often come into contact with history can also experience the beauty of the story.

# Thoughts:

This book has a lot of interesting European history. After all, we are Asians and don't know much about European history. Through this book, I have also learned a lot of interesting and vivid history. Here are a few examples:

- The vampire Dracula is a real person. In any case, his prototype as a vampire should be related to the fact that he was a tyrant.
- About the Greeks' view of life and death
- The story of Joan of Arc, and the Hundred Years' War between England and France.
- The three major knightly orders:
  - Knights Templar
  - Knights Hospitaller (it really exists)
  - Teutonic Knights
- The Black Prince of France (because he loved wearing black armor to battle) Edward

These are all very interesting European histories. Through some interesting titles, the related history of Europe, England, and France is also outlined. There is also the related history of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. I think it is a very good leisure reading material.
