If life is a voyage drifting with the tide, Buddhism is the wisdom that grasps the rudder, teaching us to reclaim sovereignty from the dominance of karma.
The Root of Delusion
The reason we feel pain, confusion, or helplessness lies in our profound dream about ourselves and the world. As Master Taixu stated, humans are bound by karmic suffering because they have lost sight of their original nature.
We are accustomed to chasing external shadows, never stopping to examine the inner reality. Because we do not understand that 'All is Mind-created,' we live under the shadow of old mental habits.
When we entrust our fate to external environments or divine revelations, we voluntarily surrender the power to govern our lives. This gap between us and the truth forms the inescapable shackles of Samsara.
The Path of Mind Reform
Buddhism is not about searching for something external but conducting a thorough 'revolution of the heart.' This means starting from the reality of one's own truth; total self-understanding is the essence of great enlightenment.
In daily practice, when wandering thoughts cease, a clear and distinct awareness manifests. This omnipotent capacity is the Buddha-nature we seek, the core pivot for personal transformation.
True cultivation is training within various circumstances—not being swayed by favor or adversity. By maintaining non-attachment in every thought, we transform Buddhist principles into inner strength and illumination.
The Fruit of Awakening
By reshaping our psychological mechanisms, life undergoes a fundamental shift from passive to active. We begin to govern and create ourselves, ensuring our actions are colored with morality and compassion.
When the mind is thoroughly reformed, the world we perceive purifies itself. This manifests as harmony in the family and equality in the world, which is the ultimate concern and lingering resonance of the Dharma.
