I would like to add, that yes you are on an interview and they could be asking you varying technical questions. Always remember that you should be interviewing them also.

Why is this position open?

  • Maybe there is a lot of planned work coming down the pike (or is it pipe?) I really want to grow, how will you set me up for success?
  • How do i get to mid or senior level
  • Maybe they use REST and you want to try GraphQL in a project Are there any common traits that you've seen in candidates that didn't preform well?
  • Didn't ask for help?

I just wanna convey that an interview isn't one sided. And for the love of God learn never share your current salary, with a potential new employer its no one's business and gives away your bargaining power.

Really great article btw.

Agreed, in order to determine if you would want to work there, have a set of questions about the things you care about. It also reflects nicely on you when you have thoughtful questions for the interviewers!

Thank you!
