It has been confirmed experimentally that miRNA expression can be regulated by nutraceuticals - macronutrients, micronutrients or natural products derived from food; thereby making dietary supplements immensely significant for targeting miRNAs having altered expression patterns during neurodegeneration or oncogenesis. In this review, we will discuss in detail, about the common miRNAs involved in brain cancers and neurodegenerative diseases along with the comprehensive list of miRNAs involved separately in both pathological conditions. We will also discuss the role of nutraceuticals in the regulation of those miRNAs which are involved in both of these pathological conditions.Among spices, onion flakes (OF) and black pepper (BP) are commonly used ingredients in domestic cooking; however, spices have been shown to be highly contaminated with pathogenic bacteria and bacterial spores. A novel method applying a treatments of Ozone Ultraviolet (UV, 255nm) and Infra-red (IR) light in different combinations was assessed for its efficiency in decontaminating OF and BP. In this study, untreated samples, as purchased, were inoculated with 9.5 × 105 cfu/mL Escherichia coli (MG1655) and exposed to each treatment alone and in combination of ozone sequentially followed by UV/IR, and UV/IR combined followed sequentially by ozone. A difference in response towards the treatment was shown among the types of spices, with a high efficacy for BP. Typically 3 log reductions were observed for ozone, UV and IR. The sequential treatments of ozone with UV and IR combined gave improved results than individual ones, with 99.99% of E. coli inactivation, and a shorter exposure duration with ozone (2.5 and 5 min) and UV and IR (2.5 and 5 min). The combined effect (ozone 2.5 min, UV and IR 10 min) yielded a log reduction of 2.69 and 4.20 for OF and BP respectively, greater than the additive effect of the individual treatments alone. The IR lamp was modulated to reduce excessive temperature rise. This novel prototype was shown to be very effective in decontaminating spices. Further studies should be conducted to validate the effectiveness of this method on decontamination of various bacterial strains.
The substitution of reference drugs for similar, new or existing drugs in the market is a dilemma present in daily dental procedures. In order to decide whether or not to adopt a new drug in relation to the reference, a clinical trial can provide the necessary evidence.
A total of 179 healthy volunteers (18-25 years) requiring extraction of mandibular third molars completed the study. Subjects were randomized into 4 groups right, left, Arteek-SP and Septanest. Allocations consisted of 4% Articaine hydrochloride with 110000 epinephrine. The primary aim of this randomized controlled trial was to determine whether the test drug Arteek-SP was noninferior by a margin of 10% in the proportion of patients with total absence of pain, compared to the reference drug Septanest in the extraction of mandibular third molars using inferior alveolar nerve blocks. Secondary outcomes included, hemodynamic parameters, volume (mL), pain scores assessed during one visit and reported postoperative discomfort assessed during 8 days. Noninferiority was declared if total absence of pain for both groups was equal to 0.9, with a significance level of 5% (P < 0.05) and power at 90% (β = 0.1) at 95% confidence level.
Arteek-SP was applied during the first surgery to 90 volunteers (50.28%) and Septanest was applied to 89 subjects (49.72%). Less than 10% difference was identified, in the proportion of patients with total absence of tooth pain P < 0.05 and in the gum P < 0.1, at 95% CI, when Arteek-SP was applied first in comparison with Septanest, establishing noninferiority.
The clinical performance of the test drug Arteek-SP is noninferior to the reference drug Septanest. Smad signaling They can be considered interchangeable in terms of cost or convenience.

Power law distributions, for example, project diverse natural phenomenon, ranging from earthquakes to heartbeat dynamics into a common platform of self-similarity. Animal behavior in specific contexts has been shown to follow power law distributions. However, the behavioral repertoire of a species in its entirety has never been analyzed for the existence of such underlying patterns. Here we show that the frequency-rank data of randomly sighted behaviors at the population level of free-ranging dogs follow a scale-invariant power law behavior. It suggests that irrespective of changes in location of sightings, seasonal variations and observer bias, datasets exhibit a conserved trend of scale invariance. The data also exhibits robust self-similarity patterns at different scales which we extract using multifractal detrended fluctuation analysis. We observe that the probability of consecutive occurrence of behaviors of adjacent ranks is much higher than behaviors widely separated in rank. The findings open up the possibility of designing predictive models of behavior from correlations existing in true time series of behavioral data and exploring the general behavioral repertoire of a species for the presence of syntax.[This corrects the article DOI 10.1016/j.heliyon.2021.e06003.].Polyacrylic acid, polyalkenoic acids in general, form the liquid ionomer phase of glass ionomer cements, which are frequently used in root restorations in dentistry. It is possible to obtain these ionomers with a fast, energy-efficient, high reaction efficiency and a clean method with microwave irradiation method. In this study, polyacrylic acid and its composite with nano HAp have been synthesized by microwave (MW) irradiation. The two-process parameters that were tested are MW intensity and reaction time. The polymerization was carried out at 110 °C up to 40 min and yield over 92% was produced in 30 min. The average molar mass of PAA was found as 11960 Da using a high-resolution mass spectrometer (TOF-MS). On the other hand, hydroxyapatite (HAp) nanoparticles have been prepared via the sol-gel procedure using potassium dihydrogen phosphate and calcium nitrate tetrahydrate as the precursors for phosphorus and calcium, respectively.
