Why I Created AlgoMastr: The Tutor I Always Needed

From Full Stack Dev to Algorithm Avoider

I’ve been building websites for years — frontend, backend, the whole stack.

But anytime someone brought up algorithms, my confidence evaporated.

I could build full apps that worked, but when faced with a technical interview or a basic recursion problem?

Blank.

Why Traditional Resources Failed Me

I tried it all:

  • YouTube videos
  • Articles
  • Forum threads

But most of them:

  • Moved too fast
  • Assumed too much
  • Never explained the "why" behind their steps

That’s not how I learn.

I need to ask questions. I need to say:

“Hold on… how did you get from step two to step three?”

When Help Feels Like A Burden

When I was in school, everything was online — Classes, lectures, office hours — all through online lectures.

I’d stay on late-night calls with professors and TAs, desperately trying to make things click.

Sometimes it was 8 or 9pm, and I could tell they were exhausted, just trying to pack up and log off.

They wanted to help — and they did — but I still felt like I was holding them back.

I’d say,

“Yeah, that makes sense,”

when really… it didn’t.

That was on me. But it left me feeling frustrated, stuck, and alone.

So I Built AlgoMastr

I created AlgoMastr for learners like me.

Not to replace teachers, But to be the helping hand when your professor logs off.

The 2am lifeline when you're spiraling through a bug.

The patient voice that walks you through the logic again.
No judgment. No rush. No eye rolls.

Powered by AI. Trained to Teach.

AlgoMastr uses GPT, a powerful AI model, to act like your personal tutor.

But instead of giving you answers upfront, it guides you like a real instructor would.

Using the Socratic method, it asks questions, prompts you to think deeper, and helps you understand concepts step by step.

Whether you’re stuck on recursion, dynamic programming, or a tricky Leetcode question, AlgoMastr doesn’t just solve the problem — it helps you learn how to think through it.

For the Ones Who Stay Curious

Professors and TAs deserve to rest and enjoy their lives.

AlgoMastr is here to support them —

So students don’t feel ashamed, overwhelmed, or left behind just because they need more time.

Built for the Late-Night Grinders

If you're someone who learns by:

  • Asking questions
  • Struggling through problems
  • Retrying again and again
  • Learning at your own pace

Then AlgoMastr was built for you.
