How I Built a Website for Daily TV Serial Updates Using WordPress

Have you ever missed an episode of your favorite TV show and wished there was a place where you could just read what happened instead of watching the whole thing?

That is exactly what made me create my own website Tellyturn, where I share daily written updates of popular serials.

In this post, I want to share how I built the site using WordPress, what tools I used, the challenges I faced, and what I am doing to grow it step by step. If you are thinking about starting your own blog or content website, I hope this helps you.

The idea behind TellyTurn

I have always enjoyed watching daily TV serials. But sometimes life gets busy and I do not have time to watch the full episode. I realized many others felt the same and wanted short, written updates they could read in just a few minutes.

So I thought, why not build a website that does exactly that?

How I built the website

I used WordPress to create the website because it is easy to use and does not require any coding knowledge. It allowed me to focus more on the content instead of technical things.

Here are the main tools and plugins I used:

Astra theme to give a clean and simple look

Rank Math plugin to help with SEO

WP Rocket to speed up the site

Elementor to design pages without coding

Jetpack Social for automatically sharing new posts on social media

These tools helped me save time and made the site more professional.

My content strategy

I post written updates of daily TV serials in simple language. My goal is to make the content feel natural, like a friend is telling you what happened.

I follow these steps:

Write every update in an easy to understand way

Use keywords but do not overdo it

Publish the post one day before the episode with the text "update coming soon" so that Google starts indexing it early.

This small trick has helped me get indexed faster and show up in search results.

What I have learned

Here are a few things I have learned since starting the site:

Posting regularly helps build trust with Google

Google Search Console is very helpful to track how your pages are doing

Do not rely only on social media traffic, search traffic grows slowly but stays longer

Make sure your site loads fast and works well on mobile

I have also learned that people come back when your content is clear and useful.

What I plan to do next

To grow the site further, I am working on a few things:

Adding a comment section so users can share their thoughts about the episodes

Starting a YouTube channel with voice-over summaries

Creating backlinks like this post to get more exposure

Final thoughts

Creating this website has been a great experience. I started with a simple idea and turned it into something that helps others. If you are passionate about something, whether it is tech, TV shows, food, or anything else. there is always a way to share it with others.
