Is it OK to tell users to Accept Cookies, or leave?

i.e. one button, no link, no choice

Also, annoying pop-up position, especially on mobile browsers.

GDPR rules require explicit consent when there is no other good reason to have your data. So any site I visit that has one of these notices I assume is opportunistically trying to collect my data to sell. Like passing a person on the street who asks me for my ID. I ignore it and/or block it with my ad/tracking blocker.

Sure, many US sites did just that for European visitors, before they updated to allow choices.

It's not quite that simple if you want to be GDPR compliant. :) You have to give users the right to accept cookie settings and make changes to their cookie settings at any time.

The workaround is to disable cookies on your site. I recommend looking into privacy-focused web analytics platforms to best understand this (I like this article from Matomo Analytics which explains cookie compliance very well.)
