Pakistan is making strides in blockchain technology and digital currency with the appointment of Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the founder of Binance, as a strategic advisor to the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC). CZ will help regulate cryptocurrency, build blockchain infrastructure, and raise public awareness in the country. This move follows the establishment of the PCC in March, which aims to foster innovation and ensure a secure crypto economy. Pakistan's Finance Minister calls this a "landmark moment," with CZ noting the immense potential in a country of 240 million people, many of whom are under 30.
CZ’s guidance will focus on cryptocurrency regulation, supporting Web3 applications, and promoting digital literacy. Additionally, Pakistan plans to allocate surplus electricity for Bitcoin mining and AI data centers. With CZ’s global blockchain experience, including his recent partnership in Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan aims to become a major player in the digital assets space.
