Google cloud platform is overkill for small and simpler projects. If you need server less services like, databases or lambda functions; GCP is a solid choice.

I think for AWS if you want to deploy a website you'll want to use S3 Static Website Hosting instead of Amplify.
Firebase also gives free static hosting
Firebase is (now) a google product and considered part of their cloud 😀

News Site is easy with WordPress check out what i made tgdgaming.news.blog and thats free. But its not really HTML level customization. And i have some limits. But hey its my opinion
