Top 5 DEV Comments from the Past Week

This is a weekly roundup of awesome DEV comments that you may have missed. You are welcome and encouraged to boost posts and comments yourself using the #bestofdev tag.

What @habereder’s coworkers lack in opposable thumbs, they make up for in code-review skills. Check our their comment in the “Show off your pet(s) :-)” thread:

My three helpers. The one on the left in particular loves pair-programming with me. The others are more the scrutinizing reviewer type :D

@catmcgeecode sheds (fire)light on the sometimes infinite loop of programming in Explain what a programmer does. Wrong answers only:

We start fires so we can put them out

@miketalbot shared how they vanquished the headache of those irritating debugger windows on Chrome with this sweet new setup:

4th screen I finally got my 4th screen setup last week. Needed something for those pesky chrome debugger windows :)

@swyx gets candid about… getting candid 😁:

we all have regrets but not enough of us are brave enough to publicly admit them and listen to our detractors. this is one of the best personal reflections I have ever read. the rxjs community is so lucky to have you as it's leader!

@juanfrank77 shares some helpful feedback on their own sneaky bad developer habits to watch out for:

A few that come to mind (and had happened to me before).

  • Spending way too much time sitting either working or just browsing around
  • Having disparate eating times and not eating real food much
  • Not having work boundaries and letting the work spills out to other activities (now is even more prevalent since all of us are working from home)
  • Not having times to stretch, move or even break a sweat

I probably could go on and on but those are just a few 😅

See you next week for more great comments ✌

Never thought I would make it to the top 5! Mom look at me I'm #winning lol
I'm glad this is getting more visibility and since someone asked me on that thread, I'll be writing a post expanding on the tips to overcome those bad habits. 😉
