"Future workshop with AI," "creativity with AI," "blah blah blah with AI," – "AI" is everywhere: "artificial intelligence" is already the stupidest...

Hmmm, I can see the arguments about cost. Still, there are enough AI models available on open source that I can ensure the ability to provide functionality in the future without exposing myself to the charging model of another organisation if I see fit (I don't; I use OpenAI, but I could replace it).
I use AI for a range of things that I could not afford humans to do, and that, before its advent, I wasn't doing at all. All those things are attempting to make the world safer, so I'm thrilled to embrace a technology that allows me to make strides in that direction. The solutions I'm talking about suffer very little from the risks of invention, hallucination or bullshit that less well-defined processes might face.
I guess I will add "AI" to many product announcements over the next year, and I'm not embarrassed to do so. I recognise there's a tendency to over egg product announcements with AI, which now seems part of everything. Many of those great new products may generally not be as revolutionary as suggested, but, not to recognise the fundamental shift in capability would be to massively underestimate one of the most significant changes in computing I've seen in my lifetime.
Thanks for your opinion! Of course, I can see that LLMs and other AI have benefits, and as I mentioned, I use Grammarly regularly. However, I also use computers, which we could also argue is a waste of electricity, rare minerals, and unethical labor. What most upsets me is that kind of blind faith that everyone seems to jump on the bandwagon of a new trend, even those who might not even benefit from it, wasting time and money and switching their brains off.
I hope that you will develop helpful products with AI and I wish you a lot of success doing so!
This is a really well written article! I've been meaning to write about criticisms towards AI (again, just not in the format of a blog post this time), and you've certainly given me inspiration to actually get started on that.
Very good article. The hype around AI is ridiculous and becoming unbearable. Especially in view of the climate disruption with the energy, water and minerals it uses massively. And it won't help solve climate change, contrary to what AI salesmen tell us. In addition to telling lies, AI is a lie!
You mean like "LLMs will lie forever"?
LLMs will lie forever

I see you're still in the denial phase. Don't worry, it will pass.
I'm sure the AI hype will pass. Hopefully, something useful will stay.
not really, there is no such thing in science as consensus... there is method or there is not. CC is rich countries BS to create carbon market and control, pretty much that.
10 years ago the alarmists told us we had 5 years or the wold would end. here we are. All Al Gore predictions went to the shit, as much as all bs media is pouring. If Earth is bilions years old how da fuck we would know is not just a larger movement? Most serious real climate especialists are being silenced over well-paid research to prove them wrong, just follow the money my friend, you are a developer, you have the skills to research for yourself.
So your're the one "still in the denial phase"? 😂
What this really shows me is that when the MSM media decide to take a side it doesnt matter anything. I would say AI is the new climate change (sic)
