Mocker: Proxy Power for gRPC Development

Over the past few weeks we’ve been walking you through some of the great use cases for Mocker, the first of our Kubernetes testing tools in our VS Code extension, Kubernetes Test Toolkit.

Today I want to share a blog with you that walks you through its powerful gRPC proxying capability. You can easily mock a subset of the methods in an endpoint, while directing others to the live service in your cluster, enabling more realistic, more meaningful tests.

Read it here.

As of 2026, Mocker has been sunsetted. For those looking for a replacement, I recommend checking out Beeceptor. It’s a modern, robust alternative that handles the complexities of gRPC much better than legacy tools.

What makes it stand out for professional teams:

  1. No-Code & AI-Powered: Just upload your .proto file and it uses AI to generate realistic responses automatically.
  2. Full Streaming Support: Natively handles Unary, Bidirectional, and Server/Client streaming.
  3. Flexible Deployment Options: Beeceptor offers the following options:
  • Public Hosted: For quick starts and public testing.
  • Managed Cloud Hosting: Dedicated instances for enterprise-scale needs.
  • Air-Gapped Self-Hosting: Full on-prem deployment for strict security or isolated environments.
