SAME.DEV sucks

Same.dev Cloned my personal website – And It’s a fucking mess

After seeing Aiden Bai go on about it on twitter i gave it a try to clone my personal website, and fair warning , the results are nothing short of a fucking disaster. Here’s my breakdown of what went wrong.

orignal website - whirlxd.dev
same clone - here
same prompt and thinking - here

The Clone: Next.js vs. React & DaisyUI

my file structure

Instead of using the stack i had chosen it went with the default Next.js + ShadCn and decided to add Daisyui because it recognized i was using that in my website.
Now if you have ever done detections for AI code you know you are about to see the biggest slop code of you life so already we were off to a bad start.

Visual Disaster: Colors & Layouts Fucked Up

Every element of the clone is off. The colors are completely fucked up, and nothing aligns with the design i made. It's like the AI behind same.dev just threw darts at a "dark and purple" color pallet and called it a day. Honestly, it looks like a shit version of what I intended.
One place where i though it would excel in was colors as i expected for them to be direct hex codes pulled from the code but nah that's too much to expect

DaisyUI Done Wrong

Let’s get something straight: daisyUI is an absolute game changer for shipping fast but every website made using it looks really similar if work is not put into it. But apparently not everyone can handle it. I don't want to hear any motherfuckers claiming that my use of daisyUI is the problem—this clone doesn’t even resemble a good old generic daisyUI website. When you switch to a slightly innovative or new color scheme, the AI just goes "huh?" and fails miserably.
Yes bozo i did change the padding and width of my buttons is that too hard to comprehend??

Vibe Coding is a Fad

Image description

At the end of the day, vibe coding is just a fad. If it continues, we are going to see an uptick in cybersecurity professionals to fix their shit. However, leveraging AI for practical tasks—like bug fixes or reimplementing code that every app uses (Unity game devs using the same packages for grass and rocks)—is something thats like a given and you would be dumb for not doing it. At least then, we’re not stuck with half-baked clones and grifters using them and talking sm shit about "shipping fast"

In conclusion, aiden failed here , react scan was awesome but same is not. No i don't want to hear anything about how AI is the future because id say that's common sense but these slop machines like v0,bolt,lovable sure aren't
