How to make your online life private

Here's some simple switches I've made to make sure my online life stays between me and the people I talk to.

All of these options are free. No affiliate links, but please support these companies who are making the world a better place.

SMS -> Signal

Signal is awesome because the company which owns it cannot read any of the messages on its own platform.

Gmail -> Proton Mail

Same as signal, Proton cannot read any emails they provide.

ChatGPT -> Lumo

The free tier doesn't give you quite as much, but I haven't had any complaints. Lumo is provided by Proton and has similar security in place.

Gboard -> Futo Keyboard

I hadn't thought about it, but it's kinda creepy that my phone's keyboard used to make network requests. Futo is entirely offline.

Windows -> Linux

There are so many good distros. I switch often.

Chrome -> Brave

Centered on privacy and built on chromium, I like it better than Chrome.

Finally

If you know of anything else that can be done, please let me know.
