This is a submission for the Runner H "AI Agent Prompting" Challenge
What I Built
In today's hyper-competitive market, maintaining a competitive edge requires constant, in-depth understanding of rivals and foresight into emerging industry trends. However, manually gathering, sifting through, and synthesizing information from countless competitor websites, industry news outlets, and social media channels is a massive, time-consuming, and resource-intensive hurdle. This process is prone to human oversight and often leaves businesses reacting to market shifts rather than proactively steering their strategy.
To powerfully address this, I built The Strategic Navigator: Autonomous Competitor & Trend Analysis Agent using Runner H. This innovative agent transforms reactive market monitoring into proactive strategic intelligence, autonomously handling the entire competitive analysis workflow from a single, precise natural language prompt.
Demo
Please find the screen recording of The Strategic Navigator Agent's workflow in action below. This comprehensive demo showcases the initial setup, the agent's understanding of the complex prompt, its autonomous execution, seamless tool integration (like connecting to Google Sheets and Gmail), and the generation of the final reports.
How I Used Runner H
I leveraged Runner H's unparalleled ability to observe, decide, and act autonomously across the web and enterprise systems without the need for complex or custom API integrations. This unique capability was fundamental to automating a task that traditionally requires extensive manual effort and diverse tooling, as robustly demonstrated in the provided demo videos.
My specific prompt, which I've meticulously refined and found provides optimal output with Runner H, directly guided the agent's workflow. This precision was key to achieving comprehensive and accurate competitive intelligence:
Exact Prompt Used with Runner H:
"Generate a weekly competitive intelligence report for the SaaS CRM market, focusing on new feature launches, pricing updates, partnership announcements, and emerging customer pain points from industry news and Twitter discussions. Summarize key findings in an executive email and log all raw data in a Google Sheet."
**Autonomous Workflow powered by Runner H:**
### Initial Configuration (One-Time Setup via Prompt):
The agent is initially prompted with a list of target competitor URLs, relevant industry news sites (e.g., TechCrunch, SaaS blogs), and relevant Twitter hashtags/accounts to monitor.
### Continuous Monitoring & Data Ingestion (Runner H's Observation Power):
* **Autonomous Web Navigation:** At a scheduled interval (e.g., daily), Runner H autonomously navigates to each specified website, blog, and social media feed.
* **Interface Understanding:** Leveraging its proprietary multi-modal foundation models, it "observes" the layout of pages and feeds, identifying new articles, product pages, and social posts, just like a human would, without needing specific APIs for each platform.
* **Data Extraction:** It intelligently extracts text, images, and key data points related to product updates, pricing models, company announcements, and discussions.
### Intelligent Filtering & Synthesis (Runner H's Decision-Making):
* **Contextual Analysis:** The agent applies Natural Language Understanding to filter out irrelevant information and identify true "new launches," "pricing changes," or "emerging pain points" based on the prompt's criteria.
* **Sentiment & Trend Identification:** For social media, it performs a basic sentiment analysis and identifies recurring themes or keywords indicating a new trend.
* **Data Structuring:** It synthesizes the extracted unstructured data into a structured format, preparing it for reporting.
### Actionable Output & Distribution (Runner H's Autonomous Action):
* **Google Sheet Logging:** All raw extracted data and categorized findings are meticulously logged into a designated Google Sheet for detailed review and historical tracking.
* **Executive Email Draft/Send:** A concise, executive-level summary highlighting the most critical insights, opportunities, and threats is drafted (and optionally sent, with user confirmation) to the relevant stakeholders (e.g., marketing, product, leadership).
* **Alerts:** If a major, high-priority event (e.g., a competitor acquires a key technology) is detected, Runner H can trigger an immediate alert via Slack or email.
(My observation: Through iterative testing, I discovered that using asterisks around key phrases within the prompt significantly improved Runner H's ability to interpret and execute the specific extraction and analysis tasks. This precise formatting led to a more accurate, structured, and comprehensive output, which was clearly evident in the results generated by the agent in the demo.)
Here’s a breakdown of the autonomous workflow, showcasing how Runner H's capabilities were harnessed to execute this complex task, along with instructions for others to replicate it:
Autonomous Workflow powered by Runner H:
Initial Configuration (One-Time Setup via Prompt):
To replicate:
Access the Runner H interface and navigate to the chat or prompt input area.
Provide an initial prompt that lists the specific targets for monitoring. For example:
"Monitor the following competitor URLs: [list specific competitor website URLs here, e.g., salesforce.com, hubspot.com]
"Also , monitor these industry news sites: [list news site URLs, e.g., techcrunch.com/category/saas, saas-industry-blog.com]
"And these Twitter accounts/hashtags for discussions: [@competitor1_twitter, #SaaSCustomers, #CRMTrends]"
The agent uses this input to establish its monitoring scope, as seen in the demo's initial setup.
Continuous Monitoring & Data Ingestion (Runner H's Observation Power):
Runner H's core strength, its observation power, is crucial here. To replicate:
Set a Schedule (if available): In the Runner H interface , specify the desired frequency for monitoring (e.g., "Run this analysis daily," or "Generate this report weekly every Monday at 9 AM PST").
Autonomous Web Navigation: Runner H autonomously navigates to each specified website, blog, and social media feed. No manual clicking or pre-built integrations are required. It simulates a human browsing the web, adapting to site layouts dynamically.
Interface Understanding: Leveraging its proprietary multi-modal foundation models, Runner H "observes" the visual layout and content of web pages and feeds just like a human would. This allows it to intelligently identify and differentiate new articles, product pages, press releases, and social posts.
Data Extraction: It intelligently extracts relevant text, images, and key data points related to product updates, pricing models, company announcements, customer discussions, and more from the identified sources, focusing only on information relevant to the overall prompt's goals.
Intelligent Filtering & Synthesis (Runner H's Decision-Making):
This phase highlights Runner H's decision-making capabilities. To replicate:
Contextual Analysis: The agent automatically applies Natural Language Understanding to filter out irrelevant information. It accurately identifies true "new launches," "pricing changes," or "emerging customer pain points" based on the granular criteria specified in the initial prompt, ensuring only highly relevant insights are processed.
Sentiment & Trend Identification: For social media discussions, Runner H performs a basic sentiment analysis to gauge public opinion and identifies recurring themes or keywords that signify an emerging market trend or a shift in customer sentiment.
Data Structuring: It synthesizes the extracted unstructured data into a structured format, preparing it for clear, consistent, and easily digestible reporting.
Actionable Output & Distribution (Runner H's Autonomous Action):
This is where Runner H's ability to act across different applications comes into play. To replicate:
Grant Tool Access: When prompted by Runner H (as shown in the demo video), grant the necessary permissions for Google Sheets and Gmail. This one-time setup allows Runner H to interact with these tools autonomously.
Google Sheet Logging: All raw extracted data and categorized findings are meticulously logged into a designated Google Sheet for detailed review, historical tracking, and further in-depth analysis by human teams. The sheet structure will be determined dynamically by Runner H based on the data extracted.
Executive Email Draft/Send: A concise, executive-level summary highlighting the most critical insights, opportunities, and threats is automatically drafted (and can be optionally sent, with user confirmation) to the relevant stakeholders (e.g., marketing, product, leadership), providing immediate strategic intelligence.
Alerts: Users can extend the prompt to include conditions for immediate alerts (e.g., "If a competitor launches a new flagship product, send an immediate Slack message to #product-alerts"). If a major, high-priority event is detected, Runner H can trigger an immediate alert via Slack or email, ensuring rapid awareness and response.
This project powerfully demonstrates Runner H's capability to automate complex, multi-step strategic tasks across diverse web environments, moving beyond simple automation to truly intelligent, autonomous business support.
