Today we are going to talk about one of Bitnine Inc. company solutions, which is the Agens solution that has multiple products for different purposes.
First of All, let's define the Agens term, it appears in some company projects as AgensSQL, their core technology product AgensGraph, and more side projects / tools,
Agens mainly comes from the Latin culture, it can be described by the English terms ( to "drive", "lead", "conduct", "manage" ) which is very intuitive when you think about all Agens products built on top of the postgres database, conduct and manage it to their proposes also it has another meaning which is being more effective and efficient and it's the solutions target too, Awesome!
Also the word Agens well known for coming from the Intelligence Side of the Emperors in ancient Rome.
Regardless of the name let's dive more into what's aimed to be achieved from those solutions categories It has been dedicated to :
- transmitting the required information
- most accurately
- most rapidly
- Provide optimal data by collecting and processing.
Agens solutions until now are 4, the AgensSQL solution, the AgensGraph solution, the AgensBrowser solution, and the AGcloud solution.
1. AgensSQL Solution
- it's the earliest and first integrated database package of PostgreSQL.
- it's a Future-oriented database package with infinite scalability.
- the first release of AgensSQL ( AgensSQL 1.0 ) is built on Postgres ( PostgreSQL 9.4 )
- AgensSQL 1.0 is a stable and verified integrated database package which anyone can use for free.

- What's the PostgreSQL?
PostgreSQL is an open-source database management system ( DBMS ) for relational database models, it's one of the most known databases ( from the latest Stackoverflow survey for 2023 it's used by almost 48% of developers who participated in the survey ), also it's known and marketed as the World's Most Advanced Open Source Relational Database.
- What's the meaning of Integrated database package? it's a software suite that includes various tools and components for managing and working with databases in an integrated manner, here it's a suit of a PostgreSQL DBMS as a core and various packages/extensions/modules ( Essential enterprise features ) that are needed to boost out and help the enterprise user to make the most use of PostgreSQL all in one. which means instead of installing the DBMS and each of the needed Packages independently here you take it all in one in just one package once you install it, it is ready to use!
2. AgensGraph Solution
- it's considered the core technology of Bitnine Inc. company.
- it came mainly when Bitnine think of making an Enterprise graph database management system solution, but they realized that they want to focus on being an enterprise than implementing a DBMS from scratch so they decided to bring the Postgres database source code, modifies its parser as their needs, add the needed engine for open-cipher graph query language and built on them more and more to provide various features ( we will discuss it more clear in another blog soon ).
- it's a graph database management system ( DBMS ), an enterprise solution.
- created to overcome the limitations of relational databases, Graph Databases offer the optimum processing techniques for graph-like figures such as social network data.
- widely used and applicable in Recommendation, Geographic information systems, Master Data Management, Fraud Detection Systems, and so on.
- it goes from the point of being just a Graph database, it becomes a multi-modal database that supports multiple types of models such as relational model, document model, key-value model, and also the graph model.
3. AgensBrowser tool
- it's a visualization interface for the graph model databases, that aims to achieve effective graph data management.
- it's released by Bitnine company as a tool to visualize the data from the AgensGraph database in a more intuitive way than the others to help you clearly understand your data.
- it's a Browser-based product, that runs through your browser window.
- through it, users can monitor and control the status of each component of AgensGraph DB. Especially, you can project your data as graphs and visualize the analysis result in various forms so you can find some hidden patterns in the data, catching the relationship between data objects and the insight, of course.
4. AG Cloud Express tool
it's a free online database service introduced by Bitnine that's based on AgensGraph.
it's a cloud-based graph visualization software.
mainly it aims to introduce a graph analytical experience for all, no download, no installation, no storage, and also no time required to start using it! Just make your account and start querying your graph.
