Great point! I imported this story from my blog (should have specified that) and back then, that feature wasn't available yet. Right now I have a windows/ubuntu dual-boot setup on my laptop, but in all honesty, I haven't used the Windows part since I bought the laptop. It'd be interesting to explore the subsystem for Linux on Windows though and I might dig into that.

Why not just use windows subsystem for linux and install ubuntu on that? That works pretty well for most use cases
