TREASON! jk. I have a Mac / linux / Chromebook (crouton) and my current customer PC is windows. Needless to say, in a fellow nerd. here are some of my thoughts (mostly gripes about windows)

I've only used WSL 1 and as a python user it's a disaster imo. Installs are HORRIBLY long and often don't work.

I've also had a lot of trouble trying to get VSC working on code stored in WSL storage.

Last gripe, I still get the occasional carriage return issue (ahhhhh!)

At the end of the day, native Linux kernel trumps the emulated Frankenstein of WSL imo. I appreciate the ability to use Linux like commands in windows but its not good enough for a daily driver. Maybe wsl2 is better (I've heard that) but at least the customer laptop I'm using doesn't have a new enough update to test it

Last comment, I actually have a similar exp to you regarding "getting distracted" except for me I get distracted on Windows because my knee jerk reaction is to game lol

Via La Linux!

Wsl2 is better but you still need to be an insider in the fast ring. Though I don’t really touch python, I do see a lot of talk of using it in windows these days.

Only game I really play is the occasional Magic arena hand now and then.
