One of the most salient features of our Tech Hiring culture is that there is so much bullshit. Everyone knows this. Each of us contributes his share. But we tend to take the situation for granted.
Bad companies will change the pay depending on the geography. The best ones understand that it's not fair, if you provide the same value than a colleague, you should have the same salary, and that it's also good business because this allows you to attract talents that do not have such good salaries vailable locally
Timezones: my golden rule is that you need to have at least 4 hours of overlap with your colleagues. If you don't it sucks big time.
