I agree with the main idea of the article. It's indeed not necessary to have a portfolio website to catch a new job opportunity. However, if one has time to spent/play around, a personal website is one of the best playgrounds to experiment with new technologies and, most of all, a possible way to truly express yourself on the internet. Personally, I disagree with the idea of using "ready-made" templates. It can make standing out harder and it makes me feel the person didn't give enough attention/care to their website, aka their "internet home". Again, totally a personal opinion.
