Premature optimization is the root of all evil, they say. I think not caring about performance means we're more interested about pushing MVPs onto the customer than actually solving problems.
One of these is that a lack of performance will needlessly burn CPU cycles and waste energy, while also ensuring that whatever system it runs on needs to be replaced faster.
