You can launch EC2 instances with Wordpress preinstalled from the AWS EC2 Marketplace.
The reason you would want to do this is that these WordPress installations are already hardened following the guidelines above and more.
You can also purchase from the WAF Marketplace managed rules which will protect you against a multitude of threats
