I'm Mandisa, a freelance camera crew member in the South African film industry. I started learning about web development and coding at the end of last year, looking to learn a completely new skill set for fun, and partly with the consideration of making a career transition from my current on-site, physically-demanding one to something with the possibilities of a more self-governed schedule and remote-work, when I decide to make a change.
I absolutely love the thought of the tools, platforms and connections I am (or will be) capable of building with what I am learning.
What finally brought me to Dev.to is Codeland Conf and the most interesting podcast episode that grew from an article by Penelope Phippen around the difficulties of changing your name - which was a fascinating listen, since I am both on the brink of buying my first domain name, and getting married.
I look forward to all the future discussions, exchanges, articles and championing each other's babystep-progresses (for the newbies among us).
Welcome tag moderator AKA Unofficial DEV cheerleader. While most of my friends are found on SnapChat or Tic-Toc, you can find me here. And I OOP, but I’m not a VSCO girl.
